Prince will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement award at the BET Awards, airing June 27th. The network doesn't play his videos much, but called him a "genre smasher" and "virtuoso musician"....and clearly a great contestant for RuPaul's hit show Drag Race!

Oscar nominated actress, Monique, recently told Barbara Walters, that the reason she doesn't shave her legs is because it's painful, her husband doesn't mind, and he isn't going anywhere....Now that's a woman who is secure and comfortable in her own hair....err skin!

I've been watching Dancing With The Stars, but I'm getting a little annoyed with the surprised look on contestant Mya's face, when the judges compliment her. Not only is Mya known for being one of the best dancers in the music industry, but she's also a professional tap dancer...I think she should be on a show that's a little more challenging for her, such as, "Sell Cd's Like The Stars!"

CP Time

Now, I've heard of CP Time, (colored people time) as I've been known to suffer from that genetic disorder myself, but this is ridiculous. BET has just released this Michael Jackson video tribute, which was supposed to air during the BET Awards two weeks ago....Oh, this is embarrassing black people. Set the clocks ahead a week or two, that's how I beat the odds!

Tacky Programming

Last night BET premiered a new reality show entitled Tiny & Toya. Tiny is the baby mama of jailed rapper T.I, and Toya the ex-wife of rapper Lil Wayne. Buffoon Entertainment Television found these individuals so compelling that they gave them their own show, really? BET should apologize to viewers for not warning us we needed to be fluent in SHEEP speech....This show made someone speaking Ebonics sound like the Queen of England.

What bothers me most about the network is news that Jayz had the talented Chris Brown removed from performing a tribute to Michael Jackson(his idol) at the BET Awards, yet there's no movement to have this low brow, disgraceful programming removed. My favorite line from the show came when Tiny(seen here), stated, "it's hard for Toya to top where she's been, when it comes to a man." Hmmm, well lets see where she's been...
Lil Wayne, high school drop out at 14, arrested for possession of 29 grams of cocaine, misconduct involving weapons and possession of drug paraphernalia, and drug sale, and shooting himself with 4.4 caliber gun at age 12......perhaps she meant it would be hard to top so many jail visits.

BET announced earlier this year, plans to start delivering more upscale programs....I guess anything is a step up from their previous shows where viewers were treated to watching singer Mario's mother do drugs on camera, or Keisha Cole's family. However, it's very disappointing to see BET drop the ball on what could have been a great Michael Jackson tribute, and coverage, immediately following his death, to spoon feed viewers disgraceful, tasteless, programming such as Tiny & Toya. BET Awards 2009

A network that I normally have to look-up on the TV guide grid, because I've elected to upgrade my taste, but in honor of Michael Jackson I decided to give BET(Blacks Enjoying Tomfoolery) another shot. It's like eating food from the one aunt who doesn't wash her hands....You know you're going to get sick, but you take one for the team, so your cousins don't get upset. So here goes the BET Awards 2009...

I was overly excited before the show began, since one of the Wayans brothers slipped up and mentioned New Edition was going to make an appearance, and indeed they did. Despite their differences with the drug user in the group, New Edition remains constant professionals and perfectionist, which showed on stage.....ok, Bobby Brown looked like he'd woofed down a bucket of Popeye's right before the show, but at least he's gotten that sweat problem that he and Whitney Houston shared under control!

MTV Shows

Other than old reruns of In Living Color, I just don't find Jamie Foxx to be funny AT ALL. However, he made me laugh hysterically in the beginning with his Beat It tribute. I actually called my mom to tell her to watch.........Unfortunately, I had to call her back to apologize this morning. It was like eating lobster as an appetizer, followed by a helping of pork n' beans.

Guy- They reminded me of the pimp from the movie I'm Gonna Git U Sucka, who gets out of prison and thinks he still has what it takes, sporting fishbowl platforms!

Ciara- You're a dancer, so give Cap' n Crunch his outfit back, and pull Chris Brown on stage to recreate the Scream video.....Oh, sorry BET isn't that creative!

Beyonce- Obviously got the awards mixed up with an audition for a part in EVITA . Now you want to be taken seriously...well stop showing up on stage in just your panties, and maybe we would actually take you seriously!

Don Cornellius - I wonder if he runs CNN, since he took as long on that stage as CNN did to confirm MJ's death!

Lil Wayne- Just Wrong! On stage performing "I wish I could f*ck every girl in the world," while little 10 yr old girls danced in tutus.....BET never short on class!

Zoe Saldana - Did you really have to tell the world that Nichelle Nichols was still dropping the kids off at the pool?....She probably let her walk on stage with tissue on her feet too!

Jamie Foxx & Neyo- Great finale, but is it really necessary to perform 10 songs each, there is other talent out there....barely, but there's some!

Although I was disappointed with most of the show, there were a few touching moments like, Beyonce's acceptance speech, Marlon Wayans, Wyclef Jean, and of course my JANET!!!! Janet I love you, but honey it's summertime. Don't start raiding MJ's wardrobe just yet!

Thanks, but no thanks BET, I would have preferred a few video tributes, and then a separate MJ tribute show in the near future. "That's What She Said"

Oooh, I received an "insider" press release announcing the 2009 BET Awards (lol, blog must be doing well). Jamie Fox is hosting, and nominees include Beyonce, Beyonce, and Beyonce...BIG SURPRISE! So let's get ready for ass shaking, lame Miley Cyrus jokes, and don't forget....Thanking the Lord for having an ass to shake!

BET Networks announced plans of a new upscale entertainment and music channel launching at the end of 2009.....which means the video girls will no longer wear panties from Walmart
