Movie Review Time

Let me start by saying...I AM NOT a TYLER PERRY FAN! However, the man is a genius, because he has found a way to get me to actually see three of the many films he has made, by casting my favorite celebrity, Janet Jackson. For Colored Girls, stars Janet Jackson, Phylicia Rashad, Anika Noni Rose, and many other talented actors, but I have to say if Thandie Newton doesn't get an Oscar nomination for playing the hell out of the craziest character I've seen since Kathy Bates in Misery, I will, I will...um, well I'll keep watching the Oscars, but I will be a little upset. Seriously, the acting in For Colored Girls is stellar, the poems were fantastic, and even weak link, Kerry Washington didn't mess it up for me! 'That's What She Said'

Mariah...Pregnant or Not?

After months of speculation, Nick Cannon is revealing that Mariah Carey is NOT pregnant. Aside from being fat, the singer sparked rumors when she pulled out of Tyler Perry's movie, For Colored Girls ....Sounds like a miscarriage to me, but I don't gossip, I just poke fun. With that said....Maybe she's pregnant now, cows always have calves in the spring and that's about 9 months away!

Shout Out Time
I would like to give a shout out to Shalako Gordon, a young filmmaker who recently hosted a screening for his short film "The Truth About Lies". I walked into the screening as a movie snob, showing support to an old friend. However, I walked out of the screening as a very impressed movie snob, galvanized by the talent of a creative, up and coming filmmaker. The Truth About Lies is well written, well cast, and extremely well produced. After seeing the quality of production in this short, and the talented cast, it made me wonder, how does Hollywood get away with releasing such movies as, "Trash of The Titans" Gigli, or...any Tyler Perry movie. I was inspired and extremely proud of Shalako's skill and vision, especially with both of us being former NBC Pages, a position where the only talent on display... is the lack of wrinkles in one's blue uniform. If "The Truth About Lies" is showing at a film festival near you, and you don’t see it…you will be doing yourself a huge disservice, as the short film explores the precarious balance of dark and light, love and hate, kindness and cruelty, and of course, the truth about lies! Sorry Gabby

Gabourey Sidibe loss the best actress award to a well deserved Sandra Bullock....which is kind of sad, considering the fortune the Precious star must have spent on airfare!

Tyler Perry's Confession

Filmmaker, Tyler Perry, recently confessed to being molested by a female neighbor at age 10. Tyler recounted a time when a female neighbor hid a house key in her vagina, and told him to retrieve it..... seems to be a thin line between molestation and "hide and seek!"
