Salman’s business gets personal

Some films were not given a promo spot in Ready, including the Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap
In Bollywood, friendships are contracts with a fine print. And we all know that Salman Khan takes it very seriously. The actor's much-anticipated film, Ready, which released yesterday, had producers in the industry fighting it out to secure a spot for their films' promos in the big ticket. And it's no surprise that the lucky winners are the actor's good friends.

Reportedly, eight major films - which included Singham, Chillar Party, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, Ghayal Returns, Delhi Belly, Bbuddah Hoga Tera Baap, Double Dhamaal and Murder 2, were vying for this coveted opportunity.

And the four fortunate ones to make it were Delhi Belly, Ghayal Returns, Chillar Party and Singham. While it was impossible to include all eight film promos, the Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Bbuddha Hoga Tera Baap was categorically turned down by Sallu.

Our source told us, “Amitabh Bachchan wanted his promo to come in the film and had requested it to come just before the censor certificate. However, when Salman heard this, he apparently refused point-blank. Then T Series wanted to showcase the promo of Ghayal Returns. They even sent letters to every distributor and producer, since their next film would star Sunny Deol in the lead.”

The source added, “Considering the relationship Salman shares with Aamir and Ajay Devgn, the actor's decision to include Delhi Belly and Singham was no surprise. Then there was Chillar Party, which is Salman's own production, so it got an automatic entry. The rest of the films could not be attached to the prints.”

When contacted, producer Bhushan Kumar, said, “It was not possible to have so many promos in the same film. We have attached four promos in the 850 prints of the film. These include Singham, Ghayal Returns, Chillar Party and Delhi Belly.

The rest of the films will be sent directly to theatre owners.”

When asked why the Bachchan-starrer was specifically turned down, Bhushan denied, “No, others did not approach us at all. They would be contacting the multiplex directly and the commercial arrangements are not in my hands. Salman did not tell me anything about removing any promos, so that is not true.
